About the Producer/Director

ith a degree in Broadcast and Cable Production from the US, Vimala Siva Wilkinson is no stranger to TV production. Her initial introduction and experience working with production companies in the US established a sound foundation for a career in TV production. Vimala’s career in Malaysia started as a producer with a local pay TV station and in 1997 she joined ASTRO as a producer and director, after which she formed her own independent production company, Camera Culture Productions Sdn. Bhd.

A passion for design and architecture as a personal interest and a need to advance her career in the broadcast industry, Vimala took the challenge to introduce a design tv show for the first time on Malaysian tv through Astro’s pay tv. Her debut show Casa Impian [now known as Deko Bersama Eric] was an instant success that became a house hold name with the introduction of the home makeover programme format for the first time in Malaysia.

Vimala’s eye for detailed and ‘unconventional’ shot compositions got quick recognition among viewers who recognize her shows. As an advocate for quality pay tv programming, Vimala over the years created hit shows such as Ratu Sehari [a bridal guide programme beautifully hosted by actress Maya Karin], Ekspresi Laman [a garden makeover show], Jom! Bersama Eric [Malaysia’s 1st Design talk show, recorded live to audience]. Casa Impian[now known as Deko Bersama Eric] , her star programme is currently in it’s 8th season[2008] as one of the longest running shows on astro. Taking pride as a trendsetter in this genre Vimala continues to produce strong concepts for the growing Malaysian pay tv audience who appreciate quality programming.
